Kylee, you don't sound thirteen...you sound much older and less stupid. I sounded like a real moron on the Internet when I was thirteen. And your writing ability far exceeds what mine was at that time (and I think it actually exceeds my current ability, but I haven't read enough.. I just know that what I have read is wonderful).

Really, the difference between me and any other writer is not skill or quality. It's just that I attach myself, like a leech, to a writing project (like Claris and Clarity) and I don't let go until it's done. Many other people whose writing abilities on all fronts grossly exceed my own simply haven't developed that kind of discipline; and by that I mean the disicipline to begin and finish a very long--or even a short--story. You can make it as a short story writer. It's actually easier than being a novelist, from what I've read about the publishing business. But a lot of great writers I know either only write fanfiction (which can't be published unless it's Star Trek..) or don't stick to the stories they begin, long or short. And maybe they don't want to, and don't need to, because most of the great writers I know are great at a myriad of other things. But writing is all have. I'll end this with a quote that always gives me hope n__n:

"A professional author is simply an amateur who didn't give up."

And most of the second series villains take their newfound villainy pretty casually... because it's something that was already there--all Amethyst did was bring it out. She took her villainy casually too, I think, but she takes everything casually, so.. o_o;
