Hmm, I'm hearing all these conflicting opinions on Okage. I think I'm going to keep it though. I'm still not far in (Chapter 3... just left Madril), and it definitely has its aggravating points. Most prominent is that it's slow. Walking in and out of buildings takes forever because of the load time between screens. It takes a while for the experience/rewards screen after a battle to disappear too, and the battles are somewhat annoying. I guess the back of the box calls them exciting because everyone on the field is jumping around like cats on crack (cookie for you if you get that reference), monsters and heroes alike.

The game is really funny though. I can't remember when I've laughed so much at a video game, although I hope it's not all silliness (and there's been a few little hints that it isn't). I like a mix. But seriously, it's so hilarious, especially any exchange with Stan and another character. The scene in the sewer with him and Rosalyn was great (especially when she has her sword to Ari's throat and he says [or rather, has the option of saying] 'Okay, this sucks' and then 'Oh my god' XD).

The character design is kind of hit and miss for me. Some of the designs are very ugly (mostly townspeople) but then again some are just plain cool. The Nightmare Before Christmas/anime hybrid style works well when it works (Ari is one such success. God he is so cute). And everybody wears striped stockings. What the hell. o_o;

Also, is it me, or does Rosalyn (who is also very cool) look a hell of a lot like Beatrix (from FFIX)?? o__O

And it cracks me up that the narrator never says Ari's name, just like no one ever says Tidus's name in FFX, because the names are changeable. But in Okage, Ari's name will be on the screen that the narrator is reading aloud from.. he'll just say 'the hero' or 'the boy' instead of 'Ari.' Most amusing.
