Usually it's not good writing but good ideas that make me read fanfic. What I mean by this is that I'll read a fic even if the writing is poor, so long as I like the idea (for example, I'll read any Draco/Hermione fanfic). Naturally I find them more enjoyable the better they're written, but you know what I mean. :B
