I don't like how-to's in general, Tengu, but one that compares all of its guidelines back to the writer's own work (and always favorably, I might add) is really annoying. Also this person doesn't seem to understand that most serialized newspaper comics will often have no or very little, spare backgrounds (a good example is Garfield..most of the time the only background is a blue wall and the counter/table/whatever that Garfield is always on, and sometimes the scene is in his little bed :3;). True, she's likely talking about comics that attempt graphic novel-ism, but even then, characters are always more important that backgrounds. But it's mostly this whole ego masturbation thing she's got going on that's upsetting.. o_o; (Giving herself an A+ for character design..? o_o; I thought most of her characters looked pretty generic...)
