Ah, we just had our first set of trick or treaters. We don't usually get a lot of visitors down my street because the houses are so far apart. My Dad put it like this last night--in another neighborhood, you could visit three houses in the time it takes to visit just one in this neighborhood (of course, in the neighborhood he was speaking of [my old one], the houses are REALLY close together--separated barely by fences, when there's a separation at all). Although I've always enjoyed trick or treating, I'm sitting it out this year.... because, 1, I don't really have a costume (I suppose I could pull on my glove and, coupled with this black pantsuit I'm wearing, call myself Janet Jackson, but..), and 2, trick or treating really isn't that fun if you're doing it alone. Especially when you're as old as myself; I would feel like a loser ringing people's doorbells unless I was with friends, because then we would all be losers together.^^;
(My friends are all bowling... and even if they weren't, it is a school night and, also, lots of people have essays to finish because they're doing early or scholarship applications for colleges)
Halloween really is one of my favorite holidays, though--I love the magic of it. It's like Christmas, but without the heart-rending depression (usually) and more candy. It's fun and spooky and neat. :3 Unfortunately, since it's not a federally recognized holiday (despite the fact that most all calendars mark it and most people, in general, celebrate it), we don't get the day off. >_>
It's also neat because tonight is a blue moon. How bad ass is that?
