How to Write a Draco/Hermione (or, in fact, nearly any Harry Potter character romance story in which one character is typically the enemy of the other, but this is specifically for D/Hr, and possibly D/Harry, since it's just about the same thing except Harry's a guy) Romance Fic in 4 Easy Steps:
1. Invent some reason (the more wildly contrived, the better!) for them to be in close proximity to each other for an extended period of time. If you do not want to go through the trouble, then you may either A) cause Draco to have a sudden, drastic change of heart and switch from being a prat bastard to a Sensitive New Age Guy or B) have Hermione have a sudden, drastic change of heart and change from being an intelligent, assertive (though still very sensitive, given the number of times she bursts into tears in the books) young lady to a simpering biznitch (Case B is very rare. Most writers, if they lack the conviction for plot devices, go with route A)
2. They must exchange witty, insulting banter. Draco must use the word 'Mudblood' every five words, or, if you want him to be really nasty, every three. Hermione must retort similiarly--prat, because it is British, is a favorite (especially amongst writers who are, in fact, not British). (this rule is generally not applicable if you have chosen to distort the characters as outlined in Step 1: in this case, one must skip directly to Step 4)
3. Intersperse this witty banter with each character having personal revelations in his/her head about how unbelievably hot the other character is/has become and how much they suddenly feel the urge to kiss him/her or jump his/her bones. This is a requirement. (meaning it has been in almost every single D/Hr fic I've read, and I've read a lot)
4. After several pages/chapters/books of this (depending on how long you want to draw it/how interested in being realistic you are..), one of them must make a confession of undying, eternal love (it's usually Draco).
Additional Notes: Since this is a pairing that will never, ever, in ten thousand years, happen in canon, one must of course bend the characterizations somewhat if even one does not choose to distort them so wildly as step 1 suggests. In general, it is Draco who must be adjusted: he is either a dominating, controlling, possessive (and sometimes sadistic!) yet-still-loving young man, or a sensitive, tearful boy just trying to escape the clutches of his Dad. In both characterizations he really hates Lucius. Lucius = Satan.
Hermione is usually more accurate, being that she is written as being a caring and concerned person. Have fun!

Yes, yes, I know my own story is guilty of a lot of this stuff, too. XD
