Alright, well, I saw Harry Potter. I will proceed with my opinion of it, but for the benefit of those who haven't yet seen the movie, I'll leave some blank space before I start...if you have seen it, or aren't sure if you want to and want to know how it's different from the book, go on..

Its length went by fast. Several scenes and characters (namely Peeves) were cut, and if not cut, the scenes were reworked. It is a good movie and I'm probably going to see it again (hopefully in a quieter, less populous theater), but there were a few things that bothered me. The most minor (and I don't understand why it was changed since it IS so minor) is Hagrid saying he got Fluffy off an Irish guy, when it says quite clearly he was a Greek fellow, which makes sense, given that Fluffy basically equals Cerebus. I have no clue why this was changed to Irish and for some reason it really annoys me. It also bothered me that the last of the stone's protections--Snape's potion riddle--was removed, since that's basically Hermione's thunder (besides just being a neat scene). The dialogue was, for the most part, VERY good, the parts that weren't taken directly from the book were still good/natural sounding (except for the part near the end, but it's difficult not to be cheesy when you're talking about the power of luv). Much of the dialogue is either the same or very similar to what was said in the books, but the scenes they're from are missing. For example, Draco's speech on the Hogwarts Express about the right wizarding families and his offer of friendship was not made on the Hogwarts Express, but on the front steps of the castle as they're waiting to go on. When it didn't happen on the train I was afraid they'd cut it, which would have made me sad, since I thought the offer and subsequent rejection by Harry of Draco's friendship was a very important part of the book. Regardless of the changes though, it IS an entertaining film and I enjoyed it. The Quidditch scenes KICKED ASS. However, another minor complaint--Slytherin's Keeper was female, and I'm pretty sure it said explicitly that Slytherin had no ladies on its team. This too bothered me... (and Marcus Flint is by far the ugliest actor in the movie, but I imagine that was on purpose... Oliver Wood, conversely, is totally hot and has a very nice Irish accent)

The sets were also great--beautiful, lovely sets. Mrs. Norris's red eyes were scary--Madam Hooch's gold eyes were very neat...and I liked the actors for Lily & James. I pictured Lily as being extremely pretty, and while the actress wasn't gorgeous, I definitely think she was pretty. :B You also got to see some of Harry's house in a flashback scene, that was cool as well. And the soundtrack was fairly effective, especially during the giant chess set scene.

On a scale of one to ten, I'd give it a 7... it was a great movie, but, even at its length..there wasn't enough. XD
