Had my first full day of classes today.

My first college class ever was Archaeology (of Complex Societies), taught by Professor Kus (pronounced Cuss), my only female professor for this semester. Should be an interesting class, she seemed like a nice lady...though part of our introductory exercise was to draw an archaelogist. Obviously y'all know how I draw (badly). She held up mine and said something like 'It's Sailor Moon does archaeology!' Har. XP On a tenuously related note, I sit next to Catherine Bloom in this class.

Next is Search, the required Humanities course that all Rhodes students must take (Search or Life, I've talked about'em before), taught by Professor Gray. He's.. hmm. Tall, skinny, bespectacled, fairly young-looking (I would stab around the area of thirtysomething), with a very strange voice... it has a guttural quality to it which doesn't seem to fit his appearance, though it's not a bass guttural. Not sure if I like him yet, but I think I'll like the Search class. We're starting with the Epic of Gilgamesh, some of which I'd read sophomore year of high school (which means nothing, given my poor memory). There are so many fun ways to pronounce 'Enkidu.'

Last for MWF is my World Drama class, my only actual English class, taught by Professor Canfield. This man is a trip. I had to buy fourteen books for his class, which aggravated me, but this is going to be... well, it's going to be, that's for sure. The girl who was sitting in on the class hoping people would drop told me I was 'brave' for taking a 'Canfield class' as a freshman (luckily there were other freshmen in there, so I was only momentarily cowed by her words). Even though Prof. Canfield likes to throw out a myriad of five dollar words in every sentence, I think that after Ms. Rouse and Ms. Garrison, I can handle most anything. BRING IT BABY. I also admire his ability to switch between erudite language and sometimes vulgar colloquialisms (like 'bitchin') with ease, as it is an ability that I also aspire to cultivate. He's a young guy, also, so the same girl who warned me went on to say how she heard/thought he was 'hot.' Not too sure on that one, miss. He's not an eyesore or anything, but I don't really find shaved heads attractive. n_n

Tomorrow I've got Topics: Wisdom Literature (Religious Studies class) and Modern Art I.

The only anxiety I have now is about the papers--not really the actual writing of the papers (though that's not going to be a picnic), but the fact that since I lack a printer, I'll have to write them in the Computer Lab. n_n I've got little papers (500 words for Search, and a 1-2 page thing for World Drama) due soon too.
