I know, I've been moaning a lot lately, and I'm still unhappy because Leliel is still not fixed, but it's not all bad. Actually, besides the computer and the possibility of me not being able to get onto work-study, it's really, really good. Awesome, in fact. Everyone here is so nice, so friendly. I feel like I can trust nearly everyone I meet, and for a person with trust issues like me, that's important. I mean, case example--I left my shampoo and soap and conditioner in the showers, right, for like a day and a half. When I realized they were gone, I went back to find them and they were STILL THERE. Not even TOUCHED. I bet if I had ever had reason to use my high school's showers, stuff I left in there would be GONE.
And even the people not assigned to be friendly (the Peer Assistant folks) are friendly--like the people around my dorm. We went to Walmart last night. Since I don't have a car I rode with a guy named Adam who lives in the same dorm as Stephen, along with a guy whose name I am going to spell wrong--Colange or something like that. Both nice, smart guys. The girls are nice too, even (especially actually) the Southern Baptist next door. I was feeling ill after the heavy, solemn pledge signing ceremony and she was all concerned, and not in the fake, oh jeez, I don't want to be responsible way. (I have a constant battle of naivete and cynicism inside my soul -_-)
The discussions we've had on civility (mandatory), religion and politics (did that my second night here I think) have been great, PLUS..
We had this professional troupe perform for us, about homophobia and racism and other badness, and one of the performers looks--I swear--JUST LIKE ETIENNE. Dude, it was CREEPY. Didn't sound like him so much, but he was tall, skinny, pale, with wavy kind of black hair and such. I was like, Whoah. XD
So you know, this is a really nice place... I just want my damn computer back.
