I think my comments are messed up.. I saw that someone (dun know who) mentioned forgetting what a blue moon was--it's when a full moon happens twice in a one month period (a very rare occurence^^;).
And for a completely different tack which I thought of when I saw the highly immature banner on Kirryn's page... =P Comparing the Lord of the Rings trilogy & the Hobbit to Harry Potter is like comparing an apple to an apple shaped orange. As far as I can tell, the books share only two major similarities. First, they're both fantasies. Second, they both have mythical/fantastical creatures (and Gandalf is, of course, a wizard). THAT'S IT. The ONLY reason this debate even EXISTS is because they're both being made into what are expected to be blockbuster films. Personally, I think that if Mr. Tolkien were alive today, he would be appalled by the behavior of some of his fans (and if Ms. Rowling knew or cared, I'm sure she would be appalled as well). I could probably write a whole treatise on the stupidity of comparing these two series because their tone, atmosphere, characters, situations, and even settings are SO DIFFERENT... but it would just piss me off and probably end in cursing. I want to tell people arguing about it, from either side, to just SHUT THE HELL UP. I love both authors and both series, and am planning to see both sets of movies. Christ.
