New Fatal. 's messed up, but it's a scene I've had in my had for the past few days that I simply needed to expunge. And speaking of fiction blog entries, me likey your MSTing Jaimie-J. Mostly because it did not seem malicious, unlike certain other peoples' MSTings I could name...
::GIR voice:: Master? Master, where did you go? ;___;
Dorafluff, yeah, I DID notice the Mononoke thing. THAT, I concede, was kind of weird. I'm not saying there was NO ripping off, since Disney is (in)famous for never creating a purely original storyline (but we all know that nothing is purely original, but let's not get into that), I'm just saying I doubt that they totally ripped off Nadia, or at least not to the extremity of ripping off of Kimba. And all the female characters were badass. I loved the line of Kida's about Milo's large forehead and weak body would only be suited to scholarly pursuits. Hee hee hee. And I was told (by Kai who I guess read it in Disney Adventures) that Milo is in his thirties, though he looks in his twenties to me.
Etoile, you definitely have a style, you crazy person...and the person that does GIR's voice is a guy, but Rosearik is his name.. X3; His wife, Tavisha, does the actual art for their work (though they've said often that Sushi Girl is not theirs, it seemed to be a kind of work for hire thing..and it's not being continued, apparently), he just colors it.
It's true that anime styles are similar, but that's why it's a style of its own--I think your style is very distinctive, just as is Tengu's, Jaimie-J's (whose is sort of a mix...) and Vera's. I could tell y'all's styles apart very easily, and they're all good.
Oh, I agree, Vera. Disney does not have a shred of originality whatosever. ^_^; But despite the convincing-ness of that page, I really think the Nadia/Atlantis stuff is a coinicidence, especially after seeing the film myself. I think the Kimba/Simba connection is far more plausible, mostly because it has much more evidence to support it, and I don't think Kimba was based on anything (except possibly folklore or something).

Anyway, having just returned from seeing it, let me say that I thought it was wonderful. The dialogue is well written, the characters are likable, the villains not readily apparent, and Thatch is one of the cutest Disney heroes in a long, long time (the fact that he's voiced by MJ Fox does not detract from this at all). As one would expect from Disney, the animation is beautiful and fluid, and it makes use of the fantastic 2D computer animation that I so love. I very much like the ideas about Atlantis that were presented (whatever their source), and none of the characters annoyed me (except for those that turned out to be eeeevviil and that was really only because I felt so betrayed). Really, the only bad thing about this movie was that it moved so quickly--I mean, we're talking about light speed here. It jumps and skips from one plot point to the next, with only a little bit of development in between (though what is there is good). Admittedly, you're working under the limits of films, and animated films at that (which are, in general, a good deal shorter than live action, since they take forever to create), but I mean, jeez. It wasn't a tour de force or anything, but it went by pretty fast. Still, it was a good movie, and I would see it again, if only to watch Milo bumble around like the skinny cartographer/linguist he is.
Also, this movie was rated PG (and you'll see why: it's not anything offensive, but it's definitely not the norm for a Disney feature), and it's not a musical--there's background/effect music, of course, but no one sings any songs and the only cute furry sidekick is Milo's cat Fluffy, who only appears briefly at the beginning, anyway. The film is also not afraid of subtitles and vocabulary--it's doubtful that the younger audience will know what 'linguist' and 'internal combustion engine' mean without the help of context clues or their parents. This is a Good Thing.
So, yes, I recommend this movie, regardless of whether or not it was ripped from Nadia. If I had to do a star rating, I would rate it about 3 out of 4 (same as the reviewer in my paper, actually). Not perfect, but good stuff.

And speaking of the reviewer in my paper--he gave Tomb Raider (which I've not yet seen) zero stars. HAHAHAHA.
Updated Kurai. (and Karma Slave, too)
"All cruelty springs from weakness."

Interesting quote. :3
I've never seen Nadia, but I know that Atlantis is based partly off Jules Vernes' book, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, even though Atlantis was not terribly important in said book. I believe that Nadia was partly based on that book, as well (as with many other things). I think people are just jumping to conclusions: they're based on the same source material, of course there's going to be similarities. Jeez.

I'm going to see it today (hopefully), and I'm really looking forward to it. I think I'll enjoy it. The idea of a lost, ancient city is so fascinating to me (one of the reasons why I enjoyed the Road to El Dorado so much), I'm surprised I've never written about it, actually... plus Michael J. Fox is my favorite actor, and he's voicing the main character. :D What more could I want?

It is good to see that Hikafluff is back in the land of the net-living, and that Karma Slave does not send her into violent spasms of pain (like what happened to those lab animals I had read it..). And you know you're a better artist than I will ever be, so don't say such things, and get to work on your webcomic. :3

I was reading my Sailormoon manga the other day (to inspire me for more Clarity), and this quote (paraphrased) from Pluto struck me:

"Hugs and kisses aren't the only form of showing love. Watching over someone, quietly, from afar--that is a kind of love, also."
Today is going to be a rough day. I'm taking my senior pictures at 3:30, and then RIGHT AFTER they're over I have to get, as fast as I can, to the movie theater to see Atlantis at 4:45. I'll probably be late, but hopefully not grossly late. Like, under ten minutes late would be good (not late at all would be best, but I really doubt I can make it from the studio to the theater in 10-15 minutes).

Oh, yeah, I got my ears pierced, again. I had them pierced originally when I was four, but I didn't wear earrings that much so the holes closed up. While the guy was piercing my right ear, a plastic thing (which I assume was part of the piercing gun, I couldn't really see), got stuck on my ear. It hurt like hell, and it took him close to five minutes (which is longer than you think) to get the thing off. I didn't want to seem like a wuss, though, so I didn't say anything, and he thanked me for being so calm because any other girl would have started freaking. =P
When I hear STP, I think of standard temperature and pressure...when everyone else hears STP, they think of Stone Temple Pilots. Hmmm.
Yes ::points below:: that is how I stave off loneliness and depression. Expect much more of that kind of random boredness for the rest of this month, as I will be very lonely and depressed for the duration of it, no doubt. Sigh... I wish I could skip right through June and on into July...when all good things will happen, I hope.
The Love Calculator sez, 'THERE IS NO ROMANCE IN ZIM!'--every pairing I put in returned a 0% result XD (Zim/Dib, Zim/Gaz, and ::shudder:: Zim/GIR), except for Red/Purple, which returned a 36% result. XD
Hee hee. Neil Gaiman uses FedEx (my dad works for them.. their home base is here in Germantown).
OK, I got Karma Slave updated. Now to work on other stuff.
Del neechan gave me this link and said that when (if ._.) I publish my books I should do this, and I said that I wouldn't even charge. If I ever become an author of note, I will never try to do anything against whatever fans I might have, unless they're trying to make money off my stuff. I think it's horrible that McCafferey is so uptight about fanstuff. She ought to be flattered, as long as they're not trying to pass her ideas off as their own or getting money from it, and it doesn't seem like they are. It is my personal goal to be as interactive with what fans I have as possible, because I know that fans make creators a success. I also know that once you put your ideas and characters out there, then they belong just as much to your readers as to you. I don't want to deny anyone that; in fact I want people to feel comfortable with my characters and creations, as much as possible.
At least I know that Naoko Takeuchi doesn't mind Sailormoon fic (I read in one issue that she's collecting it XD She is such a cute person)...and J.K. Rowling hasn't made any noise about HP fanwork either (nor has Jhonen Vasquez, as far as I know)... so I think I'm safe.
I feel... really terrible right now... but at least I'm getting work done.

Why am I always the one left out of everything?

As it turns out, I didn't have to go to my dentist's appointment (and before anyone gets righteous, it wasn't for my health, it was a cosmetic veneer, which was cancelled when my parents discovered that it cost a great deal of money and that the insurance wouldn't cover it. Our dentist, who is apparently just evil, neglected to tell us this. No, the dentist is not evil for not telling us this, she has done many other evil things to us and others, but it's a long story that I know none of you care about), and I got a break from painy yard labor today because it rained.

So I had some 'me' time in which I worked more on the next page of KS, so hopefully there will be an update tomorrow (though probably not a very good one..). My other goal is to write at least enough of Clarity's second chapter to post, and these wonderful photos of Genki/Kels-chan as Sikari give me more inspiration to do that (in spite of the fact that Sikari is not in the second season at all). If you plan to read Clarity and haven't yet, or if you're reading it and haven't finished Chapter 9, I would advise not looking at them, or you'll be spoiled for a Semi-Important Plot Point. But if you don't care about spoilers (as I usually don't), or if you don't intend to read it, go ahead and look, because they're cool and they made me happy.
Yesterday was one of the WORST DAYS OF MY EXISTENCE... today is better, but still not very good, and that's why there hasn't been any new anything lately. I have stuff to put up and work to do, and Karma's next page is half finished (though it's UG-LY...), but this is a horrible week of busy-ness, so I'm sorry. Just a little longer and I should get a break to do what I want to do. --;

Well, my 'net access is coo' again. It was a problem with the router, as I suspected. Brotherbug fixed it, but now Mom is insisting that we head out driving.

GOOD LORD JAIMIE-J!! That new character picture has scarred me eternally. And that other picture is hilarious X3;
Oh, and the Zim and Jhonen sections on the slavelabor boards were deleted (and sally is also leafing for Europe ;__;). What a beautiful day this is. =P
And poor Angiefluffer is losing her Internet altogether.. ;_; Parents are so frustrating sometimes.
Umm yeah..apparently the Internet on my computer (I'm posting from my brother's computer) isn't working, so maybe there won't be a Karma update today.. X3; After I get this first bit done, I'm going to set a schedule so you don't have to rely on coming here to see if I actually do anything with it...

Oh, yeah, and I love M.A.G.E., Nichole. Every word of it. And I'll write you back once this issue is resolved. o__o;

I be going to bed now. Expect a Karma update tomorrow.
Wellll, look what we have here. A poorly reasoned, generalized, and mostly false attack. How fucking beautiful. Let's begin.

Jeff, this strikes me as hilarious for several reasons. First, you have had kurai on your links page for a good long time. I really never knew why, I mean, your links are your business, and I won't be surprised if you removed me after this. But I'll be cool with that, if you don't like me, there's no reason for you to link me, is there? Second, I did not create that layout. One of my best, most talented friends, Sally, created it. She is a web design genius, and for you to rip on her work just because you can't reach her level is absurd. To act as though it signifies some sort of pretension is even more absurd.

I have no HTML skills. Kurai's current layout, which, as you can see, is the epitome of simplicity, was made with Netscape Composer. All of my own designs are made with Netscape Composer, and they are all very, very simple. I try to make them look aesthetically pleasing, but I just don't have the time or really the desire to create works of art like my friend Sally. Writing is what I'm at. If you don't like my writing, that's cool. Not everyone is going to, and I'm alright with that. I mean, what the hell am I going to do about it? I can't force anyone to like me, after all. All I can do is try to work harder and get better.

But if you have something to say, you have the fucking BALLS to say it to my FACE and not go behind MY BACK like a fucking PANSY (sorry, I had to let that bit of uncontrollable rage escape). But I'm digressing. Let's get back to the beginning.

You act as though that layout represented some sort of pretension. Possibly you thought this of my previous layouts, many of which were made by friends (who are brilliant with designs). That 'kickass' artwork is, as I'm sure you know, all fanart of my work (one work, actually). I asked Sally to create a layout for me and I told her she could do whatever fancy business she wanted as long as she used my characters, 'cause I know complete artistic freedom makes her happy, as it does anyone. And she created that, and it was good, and it was beautiful, and after much struggling I got it up and how she wanted it. I want to know what the fuck you were talking about with 'pretentious diatribe.' I don't think my quiet little welcome message fit the bill. Here's a cap of the layout so you can refresh yourself on what it said.

And, if you had REALLY read through Kurai, you would have found that I am not a fan of Internet Explorer at all, and in fact, neither is Sally. We are both hardk0re Netscape users. But I use Communicator 4.0 because I'm a reactionary bitch who refuses to upgrade and Sally uses 6.0. So, that shoots down your assumption that this layout was made for the consumption of IE users. Second, my computer, while equipped with a beautiful cable modem, is very old and very slow. He chokes often. He did not choke on that layout, he swallowed it quite nicely. Most computers should. It was a lot of frames, but it was done as effectively as possible while keeping the integrity of the images, because Sally is awesome like that.

Third, the front page is the only page of any complication, if you think such a complication exists. All the subpages take you out of the frameset, and are simple and lead you directly to where you need to go. I run over ten pages, and most of them are squirming with contenty goodness, or, at least, I like to think they are. I firmly believe that you could spend several hours reading all the crap on Kurai. Whether you enjoy it or not is a different question. =P

As for Reve's page.. I don't think I presented that as anything but nonsense. I, personally, do not consider stream of consciousness to be a valid form of fiction, unless your name is James Joyce. Reve's page is a page for Reve to spout off on whatever he wants to spout off about, and of course it's me spouting off too, because all my characters are extensions of myself, somewhat. Reve happens to have opinions that are very close to mine, which is one of the reasons why I let him have his space, because it would be easy for me to get through. It's not valid writing, it's just babble, and nothing I'd submit to be anything of merit. It's also not very long, so I don't know where you getting that 'pages and pages' nonsense from, and there is never any lecturing. The latter half is composed entirely of his angsting over his ickle past.

Now, onto your nonsense about cliques. Pardon my vulgarity, but what the fuck is your problem? I'm in hardly any cliques myself, and I simply arranged the code like I was told to arrange it. There is nothing artsy or elite about the text formatting, I kind of like how it looks myself. You INFERRED that YOURSELF. Stop making moronic assumptions, especially when they're over such petty shit as how a cliques page is arranged. For God's sake.

As to why I have a domain: well, unlike your supremely special self (who seems to have an ad free account), I don't have many other options. I don't want ads, and I want to be free to place whatever content up that I choose. Thus, I got a domain. I got mine when they were still expensive, but the fact is that domains are extremely cheap now. It really doesn't take that much out of your pocketbook to own one. And you know what? I know that people read my work. I don't think that's a pretentious or egotistical statement. They do. Regardless of how much they like it, what it means to them, or whether they'll be coming back, they read it. Regardless of its quality, they read it. Sure, not millions of people. Not even thousands, probably not even hundreds. But a good amount, an amount that satisfies me. I do it for them, and I do it for myself, and I own a domain so that I can do it with as much control and as much freedom as I like.

Now, I know you were making a general attack. But you picked a person who does almost none of what you claim I do. The only bit of my writing you ripped on was the stuff that's just brain spewage. Why don't you discuss Claris, or Clarity, or Karma Slave, or the work in the garden, or the work in Fatal, or my fanfiction, or my poetry? Why not them? Or did you just pretend they don't exist? I'm not saying they're great work, but they are a great deal more coherent than Reve's slice, I think.

And worse, by picking on that layout, you picked on a friend, a close friend, because it's her creation. And you do not fucking go there with me. You DO NOT.

So, in summation:
If you don't like me, don't link me. If you don't like me, tell me to my face. I'm not a fucking two year old. If you don't like me, AT LEAST rip on things I DO instead of general CRAP. AND if you don't like me, DON'T talk about things that MY FRIENDS do. Alright? Alright.
Oh yeah, Jaimie-J, take my fanfiction, I have incredible talent. (riiiiight)

Aww, no more Dudley. And he was so cute. (and Tengu killed Janice! She was cute too! ;__;)
Eee! I am excited after viewing this and this. I downloaded Quicktime just to watch these; such is my love for this show. The second one looks especially awesome, I can't wait to find out the story behind it. (for those that are wondering, they're clips from new, unfinished Zim episodes). I heard that reruns will last through August though..I hope to God that this is wrong, because my summer vacation ends in August. .__.;
