Douglas Adams is dead. I would hug my giant copy of The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy about now, but Kai still has it, so I'll have to find one of my paperback copies of the individual books instead.
This really, really sucks.
This really, really sucks.

I just realized something: Zim is Dagget (from the Angry Beavers, a suprisingly good Nickelodeon cartoon), or at least, they have the same voice actor. I can't believe I didn't recognize this before. Surely, Zim's voice is different from Dagget's, but when I think about it's obvious... especially since that particular voice actor (whose name I cannot spell for the life of me) has a wonderful talent for degenerating into grring babble like both Zim and Dagget have a tendency to do.

I've started writing Claris again. I decided to keep the first person approach, but at the same I'll be mixing in third person bits as well. I don't know how well this work, but let's hope it doesn't suck too hard, hm?
I really enjoy writing Claris, like I enjoy everything I write, but a lot of the time it's more difficult to write than Clarity. I think Clarity will probably surpass it in difficulty fairly soon, though, since it has so many more people that demand development and attention.
I think I softened Sean's characterization a bit towards the end of the first half, and for that I am upset with myself. I'm tired of messing with him to make him more palatable to the general audience. Although I said he mellows slightly as he gets older, and while this is true, the adage that it has to get worse before it gets better also comes into play. And in this second half, he is going to have a lot of reasons for it to get worse.

In other news, Kai told me that our old English teacher took an Onion article concerning Harry Potter seriously and quoted it when telling her class (which contains Kai's younger sister) that Harry Potter is evil and Satanic.
On another note but in the same Harry Potter vein, someone recently emailed me requesting to archive that Harry Potter story I wrote a while ago. This made me feel warm and fuzzy, so of course I agree, and found that her page is completely devoted to Draco/Hermione 'fics. Yoj, says I! Though my steam for the HP series has been lost in the wake of Zim and other Jhoneny goodness, it is still meandering in the back of my mind and will likely resurface eventually. At such time I will probably write more of that story and finish the page to my favorite ferret.

I read JTHM last night and Squee today, and now you all get to hear what I think. Yay! :D
I liked them both, with the Squee book marginally ahead, for many petty superficial reasons. I was not as bothered by JTHM's violence as I thought I would be, but then it is just black and white artwork (though admittedly at times very explicit and weird). The thing that bothered me the most, really, was the person who had the jar of bugs in their mouth, because I really hate bugs.
I waver on whether or not I like Nny. On the one hand, I enjoy his criminally insane musings and feel bad that he's always so depressed (bite me, I'm a sap), but on the other hand, he is, like Vera says, just as petty as the people he kills. He just speaks more eloquently. Everyone says that he 'only kills assholes', and while he does kill a lot of those, he also just kills people who strike his fancy as needing to be killed. I think one of my favorite parts of the whole book (besides the Devi/Nny scene) was when he had a guy all up in a torture device and then made him taste things from his fridge, and then at the end let him go. So I'm rather ambivalent. (I also liked the bit with Jimmy) I like how Jhonen is obviously trying not to glorify the violence and how he yells at people who think he is.
The Doughboys are scary, scary things.
Todd/Squee is extremely cute, I want to adopt him. I also really enjoyed the Meanwhiles, especially the 'autobiographical' ones. Jhonen is cute.
And Jaimie-J, you were right, there isn't any contact information on the compilation books... I searched for it and it was not there.
I brought both books with me to school today and they were enjoyed and/or given looks of terror by all I forced them upon. I'm bringing them tomorrow as well.
You'll notice the lack of emoticons in this post...that's because I'm trying to cut back when I write here (though I will still use them liberally in IM conversations).
Of course there's pages more I could say on what I thought of these books, but most of it is just 'I like so and so' or 'I didn't like so and so,' which I suppose would be rather boring.
I'm hungry.

Posted most of my Zim story over at Fatal..the end will likely be up tomorrow or the next day or sometime very soon. ^^;
Oh YES I LOVE IT when an idea strikes me as I am doing Super Heavy Editing.. now I'm having some fun with this story. Yeessssssss.
And Jaimie-J, I use a variety of search engines, including but not limited to, metacrawler, Altavista, Google, and Yahoo. :B

I'm going to stop looking for stuff now because my brain is about to overload from all the praiseful blogs and such that I'm getting. The way the fandom for this show has exploded everywhere amazes me, but it's cool, it's cool. :B It's proof that people do respond to quality TV, and that heightens my faith in humanity as a whole. XD;;
Plus I actually want to work on my story now. :B;; (since it's technically finished and only needs Heavy Super Editing, I'm also writing Claris at the same time..and of course working on Ling Xin [character for Kai and my's RPG--er, RPMC--before anyone asks]

Hmm, this says Zim won an award and the international animated film festival for best pilot series/tv animation...
Interestingly, my article/interesting stuff search is turning up a lot of journals/blogs/whatevers that mention how much they love the show. XD That makes me happy. :B

Uh, yeah, I'm starting to add the target top thing to all my links here now so I don't trap people anymore.. ^^;;
Even though this is REALLY old, it still annoys me. Mostly because it reminds me of everyone who thinks that everything that isn't anime automatically sucks major ass. Look, people, Americans CAN make cartoons. One of the many reasons why I'm currently obsessed with IZ is because it PROVES that this is true. Disney, despite being lambasted and loved over its existence, also makes wonderful animated movies and it has some very cool series as well (Gargoyles springs immediately to mind). Yes, American animation does sometimes have a tendency to distort the human figure in a way that makes it even more ugly than it already is (while Japanese animation moves in the opposite direction), but that doesn't mean every animated show on TV is like that. I happen to think, that while not as flowery and shiny as most anime, that The Powerpuff Girls, The Simpsons, Futurama, Batman (and Batman Beyond, though it seems to have disappeared o_o;), etc., are all quite nice to look at.
And I've also very rarely seen an ugly animated film (though I thought the art for Hercules was a little weird sometimes).
Don't anyone get me wrong here. I love anime. But I love all nice animation. And I know that Americans are capable of producing it and I'm tired of anime fans acting like they can't.

::still on Zim article/review search:: So far the worst thing I've seen said was that 'the art wasn't too original'... hmm.. ^^;;
Everybody else is administering glowing praise. :B

When everything is gone
There's nothing there to fear
This world cannot bring me down
No, cause I am already here
I must have told you a thousand times I'm not running away

I'm glad everyone likes this new layout, even though Kai made it (she thinks it's ugly and one of the worst designs she's ever made.. HAHA she is crazy). In other happy news, I got a perfect score on my most recent Algebra II test, but my average is still an 85, partly because my teacher is a biiiig bitch. She was checking to see if books were covered today, and I had newspaper on mine, and she was like 'That isn't going to cut it' so there's a 0, and then she was checking homework and apparently she had a set idea of what she wanted us to outline in this section (which she did NOT tell us about beforehand) and almost no one (inlcuding me) had everything she wanted, so there's another zero... gaawwd.
And in the saddest news of all...
.. I have to get braces .__.; And they're pulling out a bunch of my teeth. .__.; Sigh.
Nichole, M.A.G.E. looks kool, in both looks and content :B

I'm looking for more Zim-related articles, Jaimie-J.. I like to find critical commentary about the stuff I read and watch. It's interesting. :B I found another somewhere but I didn't like too well, which is why I didn't link it here..^^;;
"What is more important than knowledge?" asked the mind.
"Caring and seeing with the heart," answered the soul.

Oh, and for those that don't know/didn't read the 'me' bit of this page, I live in Germantown, a suburb of Memphis, TN. (otherwise known as WAY FAR AWAY from California)
We actually drove from here to there once. It took days, and hours and hours and HOURS of doing NOTHING in the back of our van. I think if we did that now I would go insane on the trip and throw myself out of the van while it was moving.

This is a neat article on Zim and how Vasquez feels about it...
Heh.. it's so weird. My whole family lives near where he lives (in California) and I really despise going to visit there (my grandparents live in L.A., my mother's family lives up in the Bay Area), even though I was born in Oakland. I don't know why I have such an adversity to California, I mean it really is a beautiful place and it was where I was born and all... maybe I'll get over it when I'm older, especially since it seems like everything cool (and everyone cool) happens (lives) there. x__x;;

You know, the Writers Guild of America is supposed to go on strike this month.. actually the first of May was the deadline... I wonder what would happen if they really did.
Why is everyone saying that next week's episode of Zim is going to be a repeat? .__. How do you people know this?^^;;
Uh, yeah. I'm just a little bit obsessed. XD XD
Kai made this layout :3 She also drew the Zim(Vasquez)-me down there..no, I don't have purple hair (it's brown). But I wish I did XD;

I checked kabalarians.com just to see if the Zim character names would be there (since they're all so unusual^^;)--they had them all but GIR. And, since I am bored and obsessive, here they are. :3
Your name of Zim gives you a very happy-go-lucky, spontaneous nature. You see the humorous side of many situations and can laugh at yourself as well as at others. This name gives you a musical, artistic nature and you would do well in any occupation in the entertainment field. You have many friends because of your generous, happy nature, but if crossed you have a quick temper, although your annoyance does not last too long. You do enjoy an argument and will at times say things just to get others going and then you sit back and enjoy the debate. You lack system and order and find it very difficult to budget and save money. This name creates a nature that can be the life of the party, but many
times you can become involved in emotional situations against your better judgment. Your compassionate nature causes you to be too generous and you often give more than you can afford to. You are too fond of sugars and starches, thus you could have a weakness in your liver, kidneys, or skin, creating pimples or eczema. While this name gives you a wonderful personality, and attracts much
love and friendship, it is far too emotional and scattering an influence and will not allow the material accumulation nor personal happiness you should have.
Oh yes, Zim attracts MUCH love and friendship.. HAHAHA XD
Your name of Dib gives you a very responsible, stable nature. Your calmness of mind enables you to analyze objectively, and to make decisions quickly, making it possible for you to do well in business or in any professional capacity. Because of your serious, self-possessed nature you can appear domineering and forceful to others. You have a strong humanitarian nature and many times you are called upon to assist others with their problems. Your desire to help sometimes is not appreciated, however, because they feel you are interfering.You are fond of home and children and desire a settled environment. You have an appreciation for music and art, and could express along these lines. Mental tension could result through worrying too much over your problems or the problems of others, with an adverse effect on your nervous system.
That's actually sorta kinda accurate...except for the calmness thing.. ^^;
Your first name of Gaz has given you a studious nature, and the ability to concentrate on whatever you are doing. You could excel in mathematics or in positions where persistence, independence, and individuality are required. In personal associations, a lack of finesse in verbal expression often creates misunderstandings with others, especially with those close to you, because you find it difficult and embarrassing to express depth of feeling when situations arise requiring diplomacy, understanding, and affection. Others may often find you reserved and aloof, when actually you desire love and understanding. This name creates a withdrawn, reserved nature. You feel very alone at times and find it difficult to merge with others in a happy, relaxed manner. You could suffer with head tension, or any weakness relative to the heart, lungs, or bronchial organs.
That's freakishly on target..^^;;;
